  • Chief Geologist and technical consultant for 3Legs Resources plc and its subsidiary Lane Energy (Poland) from 2007 to 2012 while initiating the first horizontal shale gas play in Europe, drilling the first vertical and the first horizontal shale gas wells in Poland, and flaring the first shale gas in Poland;
  • As president of GeoFocus Corporation from 2004 to 2006, put together 70,000 prime acres in North Dakota and Montana for a drilling program. Consulted for Brigham to get them started in the play…Brigham built a portfolio that sold to Statoil for $4.4 Billion.
  • VP Exploration for Lyco Energy Corporation (purchased by Enerplus Resources in 2004 for over $400 Million) from 1996 to 2004, responsible for initiating the hugely successful Middle Bakken Play in 1999;
  • President, founder and owner of Discovery GeoServices Corporation, a consulting and operations firm since 1980 - drilled, completed and/or produced and operated over 1,000 wells in Oklahoma, Texas, the Williston Basin (Montana and North Dakota) and the Rocky Mountains for clients and through wholly owned subsidiaries;
  • Active petroleum geologist, certified by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG);
  • B.Sc. Denison University (Granville, Ohio) in Geology with Computer Science emphasis in 1979;
  • Regularly presents at industry and university conferences and workshops worldwide and “science experiences” at local primary schools;

  • Graduated 1977 from Auburn University in Chemical Engineerin;
  • Worked for San Leon Energy PLC as COO, Aspect Energy International/HHE as Executive VP and COO, Managing Director of CED (Aspect’s drilling company), Ron Crow Consulting, LL&E, SOHIO/BP, Amoco, and others;
  • Experience includes: Engineering (D&C Hz Well Planning), Management, Contract Negotiations, Snubbing Ops (salvaging a/o plugging) Developed Gas Storage Fields Financial Accountability, Operations and Planning Engineering, Well Control, Post Well Control, Relief well planning / killing procedures, Stimulations (latest frac technology), Well Site Supervision (Drilling, Testing, Completions and Fraccing, Produced detail drilling and completion well plans for all types of environments, onshore and offshore, especially sour gas environments with the latest technology;
  • Designed, developed specifications, supervised and inspected the tubulars for all types of wells including high pressure wells (15,000 psi) and sour gas wells (11%H2S, 19%CO2, 440oF); and
  • Worked in: Louisiana, Gulf Coast, Texas, Anadarko and Rocky Mountains of the US, Columbia (Middle Magdalena Valley Basin and Llanos Basin, Hungary, France, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Kurdistan (northern Iraq), Russia (Western Siberia) and others.

  • Alex concluded his role as CFO at 3Legs Resources, plc. in January 2015, as that company has effectively sold its assets to ConocoPhillips.
  • Alex has worked with Mr. Lewis for more than 7 years on projects in Europe.
  • From 2003 to 2006 he was a financial consultant to a number of early stage companies.
  • From 1994 to 2003 he was an investment banker in emerging markets corporate finance and M&A at Brunswick-UBS in Moscow, Deutsche Bank and then JP Morgan in London, advising government and corporate clients in a range of sectors including oil and gas.
  • From 1988 to 1994 he was a lawyer at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP advising on general corporate law, banking and corporate finance from their London, Paris and Moscow offices.
  • Alex graduated from Magdalen College, Oxford and is a qualified barrister.
