Many personal successes as an active, hands-on petroleum geologist, explorationist and exploration/development manager since 1979 give the Discovery companies the opportunity to be involved in highly technical plays, and to stay focused on the most important projects.
- Active petroleum geologist, certified by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG);
- President, founder and owner of Discovery GeoServices Corporation, a consulting and operations firm established in 1980 - drilled, completed, produced and/or operated over 1,000 wells in the Mid-continent and Rocky Mountains for clients and through wholly owned subsidiaries;
- President of Discovery Global LLC which had several conventional concessions in Slovakia;
- Initiated the first shale gas play in Europe (Poland) from 2007 to 2012 before selling to ConocoPhillips;
- Consultant for Brigham from 2005 to 2006 to get them started in the Bakken…they sold to Statoil for $4.4 Billion;
- President of GeoFocus Corporation 2004 to 2006: acquired 70,000 prime acres in the Bakken of North Dakota and Montana;
- VP Exploration for Lyco Energy Corporation (purchased by Enerplus Resources in 2004 for over $400 Million) from 1996 to 2004, responsible for initiating the hugely successful horizontally fracced Middle Bakken Play in 1999…at the time, the biggest field discovery in decades;
- Accomplished computer programmer in Delphi, C++ and SQL, producing commercial applications since 1991;
- B.Sc. from Denison University (Granville, Ohio) in Geology with Computer Science emphasis in 1979;
- Regularly presents at industry and university conferences and workshops worldwide and “science experiences” at local primary schools; and
- Instrument rated private pilot (since 1980), black belt martial arts enthusiast; ordained Christian minister and chaplain for several organizations, and active Bible study teacher for several groups.
